I love the idea. I know I enjoy taking pretty high risks, but since I know this about myself, I make sure my retirement money isn’t affected by that. I take higher risk in a separate account (I’m not talking about penny stocks or anything crazy), then I have my index funds for my IRA and TSP.

I am a risk-taker, but that doesn’t mean I want inherently risky investments. If I understand what I’m investing in, I’m okay with higher risk, with the hopes of even higher payouts. However, if I don’t feel comfortable enough in the investment, I’m out, regardless of payout.

I guess my point is, I feel that investing should be more regimented and uncomplicated. Asking people, especially those that are not in the financial services field, how much risk they can tolerate, is setting them up to fail. Instead, we need to give them KNOWLEDGE to understand the product and we’d be much better off.

Great post, BTW!
