What an excellent article! I am 55 and still work part time, from home. I am so much happier being in touch with my customers and having a craft based business. I also freelance as a writer. As you said, it gives me purpose, and I love the people. It also really helps to have a modest home. Mine is inexpensive to maintain and easy to clean. Taking knitting classes has been a great joy for me, as well as planning and taking European cruises. This is a happy time, and I am very grateful.

In your health plans, include Medicare, Medigap plans, Medicaid and of course LTCi. Learn ahead of time how can you make those options play to your advantage once health issues arise during retirement. I love this article about preparing for retirement. Finding the right retirement solutions sounds difficult, but you’ve outlined a lot of great details like making sure that the estate planning is complete too, so descendants have an easier time, after you die. My father-in-law hopes to retire soon and I’m not sure if he’s thinking about all of these things. I’m going to send him this article to make sure.

I really enjoyed the article and found it to be very informative. I do agree that living within your means is very important when planning for retirement. I’ve been thinking about retirement for awhile and long term investing. Silver investing has really caught my attention and I find would be a great long term investment.

Estate planning is HUGE. For anyone who doesn’t have a financial planner, this may not be on their radar. That said, it’s absolutely necessary if you have any dependents or family. You can never be certain what tomorrow will bring, but you can be certain that your family is protected.

People are often so focused on getting to retirement that they don’t think about what happens once they retire, and not just the strictly financial elements, but also the activity, social, and health aspects. Retirement can be a huge adjustment and having information like this really helps.
