at least you were happy and awake

You know something Trevor. Unless you have been in my shoes, which I have worked all my adult hood that tore up my spine. Now I’m disabled and can’t go to a job everyday. My husband is retired military and worked after that 25 yrs. I worked 8 to 12 hrs. a day until I couldn’t any longer taking care of our two sons,a home, and 25 to 30 young students making daily lesson plans and grading papers at night. Every time he got orders I had to find a new job, usually in the local school system, so we earned it. A doctors assistant (PA) did not help my son when he went to the ER three weeks ago for severe neck pain. He had a fever and a high white blood cell count. The PA gave him ibuprofen and Flexeril for a strained back. He never checked our sons neck.
Four days later my son was paralyzed from the waist down because an infection was untreated an got into his spinal fluid. He is single and will be living with us for the rest of our life. As of today his hospital bills are enormous.
He does have medical insurance but they don’t pay everything. The cost of two surgeries, a week in the medical ICU, for days in the cardiac ICU because he developed a pulmonary embolism in his lung and could not get his blood pressure up enough to live, back to the surgical unit. He has been in the hospital for almost four weeks with four different types of IV antibiotics the whole time. You figure out what will be owed. Plus we will need to have our home modified for a wheelchair, a hospital bed that can be adjusted for changing his diapers and bathing him. Just imagine the cost of medical supplies we will need. I don’t have a money tree in my yard, do you. Just buying what is needed for my son to have some kind of life, I need money now and I am unable to go to work and so is my husband as I will need him to help me with our son.
We are both in our late 60s.
So don’t be so judgemental of people needing money quickly. Good luck to you. BTW, we are all educated and my son owned an worked at his own business. Good luck to you, I pray you never have anything happen to you that requires some quick cash. We were taught if you can’t pay for it, you don’t buy it. So that being said we don’t use credit cards an we aren’t going to start. If I can find something that will help with money an I can still be at home, I will do it because I’m blessed to still have my son with us. You have no right to judge other people.
